cycling

Did you know you can fly from Germany to Edinburgh Airport and bring your bike for free? Come to the Borders with your bike! Rulewater is in a great central location only an hour's drive away from Keilder Forest in the South, and Glentress Forest 7stanes in the North, an hour from the Northumbrian Coast and Castles cycle route in the East and to the West are Dumfries cycle routes.  Alewater Valley cycle routes starts about twenty minutes away.

Rulewater offers some lovely forestry tracks and country roads for the beginner and pro. It offers family friendly gravel trails, to slow things down a little and enjoy the scenery, but also more challenging tracks and hills for mountain bikers. Cycle Scottish Borders offers up some good longer distance road routes in the Borders area.  A good starting point for the forest tracks is Hell's Hole.
Check out Markus Stitz's cycling loop below, taking in Hawick, Newcastleton and the Rulewater valley on road, gravel and singletrack.
